The Vapor Control System from Miller Environmental Services, Inc. provides a practical, reduced cost solution for removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other contaminants from vented gases. The system consists of a patented unit and method for removing benzene and other compounds from air vented from tanks, vessels or process units containing regulated materials. The units can be fabricated in various sizes to fit specific applications.
Units can be placed temporarily or permanently. They can also be made available on a demonstration basis in a particular application.
The Miller Vapor Control Unit is designed to direct gasses to traverse through a proprietary aqueous medium prior
to entering a bed of activated carbon. This process extends the useful life of the activated carbon and may reduce the cost of replacement, handling, transportation and disposal of activated carbon significantly, depending on application.
In addition to the large potential for direct cost reductions, the Miller system can deliver significant potential regulatory compliance and operational health and safety benefits.
The units scrub gases using a chemical detergent cascade and produce no back pressure. The proprietary chemical medium in each unit is formulated to address target contaminants. These may include benzene, hexane, toluene, xylene, amines, naphtha, cumene or light gases such as propane and butane. It can also remove hydrogen sulfide and many other regulated compounds found in petroleum refining and chemical industries as well as waste treatment plants. This system is also useful for any process going to flare during normal operation or during a shutdown.
The Miller system is simple and safe to mobilize and operate. Standard units operate with a power supply ranging from 110 volt to 480 volt and utilize intrinsically safe pumps, motors and switches. Standard units are constructed of carbon steel but units may be constructed of stainless steel or other materials as required. ASME coded units and internally epoxy lined units are also available.
